Essay (Long Text) Question Type
What is this?
This question type allows your respondent to write whatever they want in an extended textbox; also called an open text field response.
When would I use this?
For example, you can ask your respondent why they rated their overall satisfaction with your company as “Extremely Satisfied”. Their essay response can add some texture and additional information to help more fully understand their response. You can determine the response length by setting the maximum number of words that the respondent can input. You can also set the width and the height of the Essay question input box. This question type is great for descriptive comments.
How does this Report?
Reporting Example
Within a Summary Report, the data will default to an appendix style format that will display each response and the count of how many respondents answered that way.

Within our CSV/EXCEL exports, the data is presented in a single column within the spreadsheet.
