In all likelihood, you have used a Likert scale (or something you’ve called a Likert scale) in a survey before. It might surprise you to learn that Likert scales are a very specific format and what you have been calling Likert may not be. Not to worry — researchers that have been doing surveys for… Read More »
Back Button Optional
What is this?
The survey “Back” button is available to all account levels in order to allow their survey takers to go back to the previous page they were working on. However, not everyone would like to allow their survey takers to do so, so we make it quick and easy for you to get rid of the button as well.
Why would I use this?
A great example of when you’d like to remove the back button in the survey would be when you want a survey taker’s first answer. For example, this could be used for a quiz where the correct answers were on the next page and you didn’t want your respondent to go back and change their answer. Another time you may want to remove the back button is when you have complicated logic where an answer on a previous page would show something specific on the next page.
When would I avoid using this?
If you don’t mind your survey takers changing their mind on the answers they’re providing or aren’t looking for a first impression (just raw data), it may be best to leave the back button in your survey. For example, if you have a long survey you allow people to save and continue on, and you’re looking to collect the approximate budget for your department for the month, if something changes last minute, it may be best to allow your respondents to go back so they can provide you with the most accurate and up to date information.
What does the back button look like?
The back button will be set to the bottom of your page, and be labeled as “Back” by default.
Can I change the wording on my back button?
Most definitely! You can translate or customize your back button to say whatever you’d like using our Text/Translation Settings tab. For example, if you don’t like the word “back” you could use “previous page” or really anything you’d like!
