In all likelihood, you have used a Likert scale (or something you’ve called a Likert scale) in a survey before. It might surprise you to learn that Likert scales are a very specific format and what you have been calling Likert may not be. Not to worry — researchers that have been doing surveys for… Read More »
Private Report
What is this?
This feature allows you to create a report and then share it with others. Starting at the Pro level and above, we provide you with the option to distribute web-links, or use a JavaScript embed code to insert your report directly into your own website.
You also have the option to password protect this report in case you want to make sure no one inadvertently shares it with others.
Additionally, if you decide to send out your report through the web link, you can also brand this to match your private domain link.
When would I use this?
The best time to use a private report link is when you want to make sure that the report is only available to certain individuals. This may be because it contains sensitive data (such as health or personal information) and should only be viewed by qualified eyes.
Another example on when you would use this would be if you want to make sure the data doesn’t slip into the wrong hands (maybe you’re planning a birthday party for a co-worker and are voting on what to get them as a gift).
Instead of giving out the generated report link, you could also send your viewers to a page within your own website to see the report (using a JavaScript Embed). This can also help by keeping your branding consistent, so it appears as if your viewers are only going to your website and not SurveyGizmo’s.
What customization options do I have?
Depending on which way you set up your private report, you have many different options on customizing it.
JavaScript Embed and Web Link
- Scheduled Emails of the Reports/Exports
- Password Protected Reports
When using an external web link only
- Branded Sub-domains and Private Domain Report Links
When would I avoid using Private Reports?
If you want everyone to have access to your data (and/or you plan on posting it on a website that won’t have any restrictions on who views it) you may want to avoid using things like password protected private reports. If it’s available to everyone, but only a select few customers/clients can view it, this may cause frustration.
On the other hand, if you do NOT want people who are not authorized to see your report, you would want to avoid embedding or linking your report on a public website all together.
