Track Time Spent on Survey

What is this?

This feature allows you to take note of the amount of time your users spend on a survey (in seconds). It will calculate all the time it’s taken to get from the beginning of the survey up to the point you have the action placed in your survey (which is best placed on the last page).

This action is part of a hidden value, and is therefore hidden from the survey taker’s view. It will still collect data for you on the back end, but your survey takers will not be able to see it.

When would I use this?

By tracking the time spent on surveys you can effectively modify your surveys to make them the appropriate length. This can help you make sure your short, simple forms or email signups don’t run too long and cause respondent fatigue.

Additionally, you can use that data to give your survey takers a realistic estimate of the time it will take to complete a survey.

You can also use this action to see how long your respondents took to answer each page on an employee application or even a quiz. This can give you more information on whether or not they took their time answering, or just breezed through the questions.

What should I avoid when using this feature?

It’s always best practice to put this action on the last page of your survey. This will make sure it calculates the time spent on the entire survey itself (as it will store the time when the page is submitted) instead of just up to the page it’s on.

How does it export?

The time spent on survey feature will report just like any other question/action in your survey. It will appear on individual responses, as well as export to CSV/EXCEL calculated in seconds.
