In all likelihood, you have used a Likert scale (or something you’ve called a Likert scale) in a survey before. It might surprise you to learn that Likert scales are a very specific format and what you have been calling Likert may not be. Not to worry — researchers that have been doing surveys for… Read More »
How to Add Subscribers to your Aweber Email Subscriber List
Please Note: This is a tutorial based on SurveyGizmo 2.0. We will be updating it for SurveyGizmo 3.0 users ASAP.
The following tutorial contains features available for Personal account holders and above.
Aweber.com provides email marketing campaigns and subscriber management for keeping in touch with your clients and customers. Aweber also offers the ability for an individual to be subscribed to a list by sending an email from their email address to the subscriber list to opt-in and subscribe. That individual then receives an email from Aweber that confirms that they wish to opt-in to the subscriber list. It is this feature that can be used to add subscribers to your Aweber list when a respondent submits their name and email address through your SurveyGizmo survey.
Items Needed to Continue
- A SurveyGizmo Pro or Enterprise account
- A survey that collects an email address (required), and name (required)
- An Aweber account and Subscriber List
- Click on My Lists and get the unique name of your subscriber list (video)
Creating the Email Auto-Responder (Send Email action)
Within the survey, make sure you include either a contact group question or individual open text field questions to collect the user's name and email address. The email auto-responder will be added on the Thank You page of the survey, or any other page that is after the page that contains the name and email address questions.
- On the Thank You page, click 'Add Action' and select the Send Email action.
- Configure the from Name and the from Email Address to use the information provided within the survey.
- Click the Send from an Email Collected on the Survey link in the From section to bring up the helper window.
- In the To section, make sure to set the email address to the name of your Subscriber List @aweber.com. For example, if your subscriber list was SubscriberListName, then the email address would be SubscriberListName@aweber.com.
- While the Subject and Content do not matter, it's good practice to make sure there is some text in both areas to ensure proper email deliverability to aweber.
If you do not like the name of your subscriber list, you can also change your autoresponder email address by changing your list name at the "List Settings" page in your Aweber account.
