How to Create Anonymous Surveys
Available to Professional, SurveyGizmo, Enterprise, and Dedicated Accounts
For many researchers, ensuring survey takers that their answers are truly anonymous is extremely important. In SurveyGizmo, anonymous responses means that we do not store IP or geo-location for the survey nor do we store the contact information associated with the individual responses if you are using email invites.
- Go to the Project tab-->Settings
- Click on the Duplicates tab (Available to Professional, SurveyGizmo Levels and Above)
- Check the box to make the responses anonymous and then click Save Settings.
Anonymous surveys can be used in conjunction with email invites. Tracking remains enabled so you can know who has responded and who has not without allowing you to connect responses with individual contacts.
Creating and conducting completely anonymous surveys can be done in minutes using SurveyGizmo.
Benefits of Anonymous Surveys
There are a variety of reasons why people need to conduct surveys anonymously. A few examples include running private employee feedback surveys so employees feel comfortable giving feedback without the worry of being reprimanded for telling the truth or conducting educational or medical research where privacy is of the utmost importance.
Creating Anonymous Surveys
Creating an anonymous survey is as simple as checking off a button inside of SurveyGizmo. Once you have this option selected, any result coming in from anywhere will not have any type of identifying information attached to it (unless you ask it of course!).
To make sure your survey collects anonymous survey data, you'll need to go into go into the "Settings" and click on the "Duplicates" tab. Then check off the "Anonymous Responses" checkbox (See Image Below).

Email Invites & Anonymous Surveys
Want to use the email invitation system to send out your survey, but need to keep the responses anonymous? That's not a problem with SurveyGizmo.
When the anonymous survey checkbox is enabled, you are able to send out surveys to specific email addresses, but their results are in no way attached to their email address. Thus making it simple to send out an employee satisfactions survey to an entire company without tracking which response belongs to which person.
