GoDaddy Integration Tutorial

Have you decided that you want to set up a private domain for your survey link, but don't have a private domain yet? Well no problem! Our GoDaddy.com Integration makes it easy for you to buy a private branded domain for your survey link right from the SurveyGizmo dashboard. It's quick, breaks down your payments easily, and can get you started on the track to completely branding your survey.

When would I use it?

No matter how much you like SurveyGizmo, you may want to show your own branding. Our GoDaddy.com Integration gives you a quick and easy solution to getting a private domain, and makes it so you no longer have worry about trying to set up CNAME DNS records. It's great for any company who wants to look more professional, and help their respondents feel familiar with the link they're clicking.

Where do I find this GoDaddy.com Integration?

Step 1:  The Distribute tab

Once you're ready to distribute your survey:

  • Go to your Project tab-->Distribute tab.
  • Click on the small pencil icon to the left of your default link (or click on the blue highlighted title).

Step 2: Editing your link

Once inside, you should see a section labeled Sub-Type. If your survey is already launched, click on the option that says "Edit this Link Now".

**PLEASE NOTE**: We highly recommend not changing your survey link after you've already distributed it. It will mean that anyone who had access to the previous link will no longer have access, and not be able to take the survey.

You should now see the option for Private Domain. Click on the "Account Settings" option to the right of it.

Step 3: Visiting GoDaddy.com

Next,  click on "Buy a New Domain From GoDaddy!".

Once you do this will open up a new window so that you can purchase your domain, and don't have to re-login to SurveyGizmo.

Near the bottom of the page, you will see "Start a Domain Name search:". It will provide you with a brief  cost breakdown, and allow you to enter the domain you'd like to use.

Step 4: Seeing if your domain is available

Lastly, enter your Domain, and search to see if it's available!

If it is, it will provide you with a cost breakdown, and walk you through the checkout process.

The GoDaddy Integration, will automatically set up your CNAME DNS record so you don't have to worry about setting it up for yourself. All you need to do is type in your newly bought private domain into your Account Settings Plugins section, and voila, you'll be ready to go!

What do I do after I've purchased my domain?

You can now return to your SurveyGizmo Application window, and you should see the following:

Enter your new private domain into the Private Domain section, and click "Save Changes".

**PLEASE NOTE**: It does sometimes take several hours before the private domain link will finish propagating,  so we recommend not distributing the private domain link immediately after purchase. We would also recommend you test your link first to make sure that the link has finished propagating and is ready to distribute.
