Remove Duplicate Responses by IP address in Reports/Exports

Available to Professional, SurveyGizmo, Enterprise, and Dedicated Accounts.

After distributing your survey, you may find yourself in a predicament where people are taking your survey more than once (whether you meant them to originally but changed your mind, or forgot to turn on IP based duplicate protection, etc). FEAR NOT SurveyGizmo citizen! Our Summary Reports, and CSV/EXCEL exports have an option to "Remove Duplicate Responses by IP address" to help save your day!

How do I find 'Remove Duplicate Responses by IP address'?

You can find this option on the filter tab of either your Reports or Exports. The following examples below will be for a Summary Report, however, you would follow the same steps with an export (just choose Project-->Export Data-->CSV/EXCEL).

1. Go to Project-->Analyze & Report-->Summary.

2. It will pop up several options for you to choose to customize your report, please choose your preferences, click "Create Report".

3. Once inside, click on the Filter tab.

4. Select the "Remove Duplicate Responses by IP address" option.

What special features does this option offer?

The 'Remove Duplicate Responses by IP Address' allows you to choose between two options.

(1) Keep the most recent (newest) response: This means that if there are any duplicate IP addresses, the system will keep the newest response with that IP address (so if there were 3 with the same IP, only the one with the most recent submission date would be kept).

(2) Keep the first (oldest response): This means that if there are any duplicate IP addresses, the system will keep the oldest response with that IP address (so if there were 3 with the same IP, only the one with the oldest submission date would be kept).
