Summary Reports: Download to PDF Page Breaks

You may find that when you export your Summary Reports to PDF, that sometimes the tables or graphs get cut off. After checking with our CEO, we found that this is unfortunately a universal problem that pretty much anyone trying to create a PDF runs into (even google has given up). The reason being is, the PDF acts much like when you're trying to print a page, printers do not adhere to not cutting off a table or a graph, they'll just print wherever they'd like.

The good news is, we do have some CSS that may help a bit. The following CSS will separate your PDF pages by questions. This means there will be only one question (or sub-question if it's a custom group or custom table) per page. This can help to make sure you don't run into the problem of words getting cut off.

How do I implement this CSS?

  1. Go to the Project tab-->Analyze & Report-->Click on your Summary Report
  2. Go to the Style tab
  3. Under "Advanced Report Styles" select "Append"
  4. Paste in the following code into the Append section:

div.question {page-break-after:always;}

     5. Click "Save Style Changes"

     6. Click on Run/View Report, and Refresh your Data

     7. Click the PDF icon to download your PDF

Your PDF should now have each question on a separate page. Here is an example PDF if you'd like to take a look at what it would like like: http://surveygizmolibrary.s3.amazonaws.com/library/103620/SummaryReportPageBreaks.pdf

**PLEASE NOTE**: If you have a very long table (such as an appendix to an essay or textbox question) it's possible that it may still get cut off as it is larger than the page itself. This should be rare however.
