OPEN CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Straumann and botiss biomaterials are pleased to announce the inauguration of the YoungProAward in Regenerative Dentistry with the aim of fostering the development of young dental professionals in the field.

The Award is open to dental professionals, including practitioners, hygienists, students, researchers etc., who are under the age of 35.

We cordially invite applications for the 2015 Award, in the form of written abstracts presenting original work that contributes to the advancement of oral tissue care and regeneration. Dissertations, projects or practical experience may form the basis of applications.

Submissions will be judged by a peer panel in a blind review process. The winning application will be selected on the basis of its clinical and/or scientific quality as judged from the abstract and submitted materials.

The winner will receive a cash prize of €10 000 as well as travel to, and participation at, the Bone & Tissue Days conference in Salzburg in 4-5 December 2015. The Award will be presented at the conference and announced to the media. The winning abstract will be published in STARGET magazine.

ENTRIES
  • Must be in the form of an abstract - as for a formal publication, of not more than 400 words
  • Must be in English only, and submitted online via the dedicated portal. No applications can be accepted through other channels.
  • Must be original work that contributes to the advancement of oral tissue care and regeneration treatment.
  • Must not have been published and should not be published before the scheduled presentation of the Award.
  • May feature basic, clinical and applied studies, dissertations, projects, practical work experience, case studies, innovations or techniques developed in daily treatment.
  • May include tables, labelled illustrations/photographs in the same scope and form as submissions for publication in scientific journals.
  • Must not refer to people, institution etc. that might reveal the identity of the applicant.
  • The Award is open to dental professionals, including practitioners, hygienists, students, researchers etc., who are under the age of 35 years on 31 December 2015.
  • Applicants must nominate a ‘referee/sponsor’ (e.g. a supervisor, professor, mentor, senior peer), who can serve as a reference and may be contacted to verify the authenticity of the application.
  • Applicants, their referees/sponsors or connected parties are not permitted to contact the jury with regard to the application, which must remain anonymous during the appraisal period.
  • The deadline for submissions is 31 August 2015. 
  • Applications that are not successful may be resubmitted in a subsequent year, provided that the work has been developed and new material has been added.
  • Employees of botiss and Straumann and their families are not eligible to participate in the competition.
  • If no submissions are deemed worthy for the Straumann-botiss Young Pro Award, the organizers reserve the right not to make the award.
  • The decision of the jury is final and excludes legal recourse. All applicants, therefore, declare to refrain from taking any legal action against botiss and/or Institute Straumann (‘Straumann’) and all its subsidiaries and affiliates as well as against the jury and/or any individual member of the jury.
