Thank you for your interest in joining Buddies Not Bullies YOU-Niquely Social Mentoring program! YOU-Niquely Social is a project to help teens develop leadership skills through mentoring and helping children in our community understand that we can be different, have different ideas, come from different kinds of families and still get along.
Our Mentors have the incredibly fun and important job of teaching younger kids lots of different types of friendship building and social strategies during our “YOU-Niquely Social” day camp.
Mentors help campers (K-5th grade) learn about leadership, making friends, including others, personal differences, and other helpful social strategies such as taking turns, personal space, and cooperation.
In order to participate in this program you will need to meet the following criteria:
- You are between 14 and 19 years of age (8th-12 grade).
- [Exceptions have been made for those in 7th grade depending on maturity and circumstances]
- You have the permission of your parents (if you are under the age of 18).
- You are willing and able to participate in all scheduled training dates as well as both “YOU-Niquely Social” Camp days.
- Training Dates - Monday AND Tuesday July 29th & 30th - 8:30am - 3pm both days
- Camp Dates - Monday AND Tuesday August 5th & 6th - 8am - 3:15pm both days
- You are able to provide two references (more details on this below & you might want to have this information handy before getting started on this application).
- No recent history of violence toward others – especially children, and have not been convicted of any crime involving abuse against children.
You will also need to complete this form in its entirety, including signing the final page
(your parent must also sign if you are under 18 years old). You will not be able to participate in the program without it.
