Undergraduate Scholarship Application
CHIMA supports the professional development of individuals engaged in the undergraduate study of health information technology, health information management, and/or graduate study in health information management or related fields. Scholarships are awarded through CHIMA designated funds.

Eligibility Requirements:
  1. Applicant must be enrolled in an AHIMA accredited HIT or HIM program
  2. Applicant must be a member of AHIMA / CHIMA
  3. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0)
All Applications Must Include:
  1. Completed Application form; including checklist and acknowledgement
  2. Completed mandatory short answer question
  3. Completed three (3) short answer questions
  4. Most recent transcript for enrolled school
  5. Professional Resume or List of Accomplishments
  6. AHIMA Membership ID #
Applications must be submitted by March 20th.
Application should be submitted electronically and in its entirety. 
Questions regarding the application process or the scholarship can be submitted through the CHIMA website.
Selection Criteria:
  • Each eligible application will be reviewed and rated by the CHIMA Scholarship Committee. 
  • The Scholarship Committee will utilize a point system to determine the scholarship recipient. 
  • Applications will be evaluated on the basis of content, quality of writing, professional presentation and ability to follow directions.
  • All applicants will be notified of their status no later than May 1st.
  • Awards will be presented at the CHIMA annual meeting.
  • An individual may not receive a scholarship more than once in an individual category.
