You may qualify? If so, WHIMA encourages you to apply for the Past President's Scholarship.
The scholarship's cash award is $500-$1000. It is awarded annually.
Qualifications:
Applicants for the Past President’s Scholarship must fulfill three main qualifications:
- The applicant must be an active member of WHIMA.
- The applicant at the time the scholarship is awarded must be a student in an accredited graduate program relating to the health care information field. The specific degree program is not a critical factor, although it is expected that programs similar to those in health care information, business administration, computer science and information systems, management engineering and quality improvement will be a key factor in the selection.
- The applicant must be an active member within the organization at all levels and have contributed showing leadership, innovation and creativity with the profession.
- Previous awardees are not eligible to submit an application in subsequent years.
How to submit an application
The completed application should be submitted by February 28th and include:
- Cover letter of application containing career goals and objectives
- Proof of WHIMA Membership
- Unofficial transcript (s)
- Two letters of recommendation that demonstrate the applicant’s leadership, innovation, and creativity within the profession
- Essay of 500 words or less on how the applicant has demonstrated leadership, innovation, and creativity in the HIM profession
