PARTICIPANT INFORMATION SHEET

Exploring Protective And Risk Factors in Child Sexual Exploitation

This research explores risk and protective factors in Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE). We are interested in early childhood experiences, below the age of 16. Questions are also asked regarding self-protection, isolation and resilience. To complete this research, you need to be over the age of 18. You will be asked to complete four short questionnaires on the following topics:

  • Your early childhood experiences including any sexual exploitative experiences
  • Social relatedness
  • Personal Resilience
  • Self-efficacy and self-concept
  • Threat perception and occurrence

As this is an online survey answers will be kept as you proceed.  Any questionnaire that is not more than 75% completed will be discarded. Your data cannot be removed if you complete more than 75% of the questionnaire. Please be aware that only group results will be reported and you will not be identified as the contributor of this information.

The questionnaires will take roughly 20 minutes to complete, if you close the browser there is no option to resume later and you will lose your previous answers. You may wish to complete the questionnaire when alone and not in the company of others.

Following the completion of this study we will keep your anonymous answers to use for future research, including publications. This may include sharing these answers with others doing similar research but only if we approve their request which will not be given out without this approval.

This study is for an MSc in Forensic Psychology.  It has ethical approval from the University of Central Lancashire where I am based Alice Harrison (ajharrison6@uclan.ac.uk), along with my supervisor, Dr Ioan Ohlsson (IMOhlsson@uclan.ac.uk). The topic of this research is of a very sensitive nature which some people may find distressing. If you feel you may be affected by any questions relating to your childhood experiences then please do not participate.
