Introduction
Council is working on the redevelopment of the Witton Barracks site into a space for the community.

This survey is to seek feedback on the Witton Barracks Park Concept Design and the use of the open space that has recently opened for the community.

The survey is to gather initial feedback. There will be other opportunities in the future to have more input about the future of the Witton Barracks site.

Background

Council purchased Witton Barracks for park and transport purposes, and for heritage protection. In addition, Council intends to establish a community hub and accommodate a segment of the Indooroopilly Bikeway on the site.

Council engaged Urbis Pty Ltd to undertake strategic planning for the site, to determine how to achieve the various outcomes Council seeks to deliver.

The outcomes are the Witton Barracks Strategic Development Masterplan report and associated Witton Barracks Park Concept Design that aim to:
  • allow for a future transport corridor
  • protect the heritage of the site
  • provide a district park and playground
  • provide community facilities
  • incorporate the Indooroopilly Bikeway link.

Delivery of the features in the strategic development masterplan are subject to future budget allocations, detailed design, and regulatory approval. It is intended that the Witton Barracks Strategic Development Masterplan will be refined based on feedback, and delivered in stages over a period of up to 20 years.

The survey will be open until 31 July 2017 and should take fewer than 10 minutes to complete.
