2018 NAAE Region I XLR8 Professional Development Program Application

             
        

The National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) is pleased to accept applications for the 2018 NAAE Region I XLR8 Professional Development Program.  The program is partially sponsored by Herman and Bobbie Williams  as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.  

XLR8 is a professional development program that targets agriculture teachers in their 7th-15th year of teaching.

The overall goals of this program include:

 - develop experienced teacher leaders who will mentor other teachers in the profession;

 - provide mid-career level specific professional development to participants;

 - as well as increase overall longevity and satisfaction of participants with their chosen career of teaching agriculture.  

This program will include participation in an intensive professional development experience during the 2018 NAAE Region I Conference in Cedar City, UT.  Additional opportunities for engagement through virtual learning experiences, on-line collaboration using the NAAE professional learning community Communities of Practice as well as other social media tools may be possible for those interested.    

All active NAAE members within the Region I states who are currently in their 7th to 15th year of teaching are eligible to apply.  Each applicant must have been a NAAE member the three (3) previous years while teaching agriculture.  Participants must also be active members and working in school-based agricultural education in the 2017-2018 NAAE Membership year.  

Program Details and Expectations

Each NAAE Region I XLR8 pariticipant will be expected to engage in the following professional development activities:
(1) XLR8 Institute on April 24-25, 2018 in Cedar City, UT.  
April 24, 2018 4 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
April 25, 2018 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 
If participants are unable to make it to these sessions then they will have to forfeit their spot as part of the program.  

Each participant will be responsible for securing their lodging and travel to and from the event.  Participants will be provided with dinner on April 24 and lunch on April 25th.  All other meals are the responsibility of the participant.  Participants completing the XLR8 Institute will be given a discount of $75 for registration for the NAAE Region I Conference.  

**Note: Each state can have as many applicants as they choose however, only TWO from each Region I state will be selected.  If not all states submit two applications then a maximum of 20 participants will be selected.
