Tech2Empower USA - Nonprofit Organization Application

Tech2Empower USA
January 29 - February 2, 2018 in San Francisco

Tech2Empower USA is an initiative of WAKE, a San Francisco-based nonprofit with a mission to link women’s rights and social justice organizations to tech tools, training and expertise from leading companies. Tech2Empower USA is a professional development opportunity for nonprofit teams and leaders from across the United States.

From January 29 – February 2, 2018, Tech2Empower USA will bring nonprofit leaders to San Francisco to participate in a powerful learning experience customized and designed to strengthen their work advancing the rights of women and girls. In addition to training workshops on the tech and communications topics listed below, participants will also enjoy opportunities to connect with peers in the women’s rights space. The tech workshops, professional development sessions and networking events will take place at tech companies, including Google and Mozilla in San Francisco, and other unique locations, including the Presidio, which overlooks the Golden Gate bridge.

Training topics will include:

  • Strategic storytelling
  • Digital strategy, social media + communications
  • "Happy, Healthy Nonprofit" with Beth Kanter
  • Collaboration + management tools with Google
  • Technology safety, online security and privacy at Mozilla
  • Video-making + promotion at YouTube

Learn more about the program and workshop topics here.

Cost: Tech2Empower is offered free-of-charge to participating organizations. Organizations cover roundtrip transportation to San Francisco, hotel accommodation for five nights and non-workshop meals (all lunches and some dinners will be provided).

We fundraise and partner to cover all workshop, meeting and training costs, most lunches and some other meals and activities to make it as affordable as possible for nonprofit teams. We have negotiated a special hotel rate for participants: $115/night per person for a shared double room or $229/night for a single room at the gorgeous and newly renovated Kabuki in Japantown in the heart of San Francisco. You are also welcome to make your own accommodation arrangements, though we highly recommend the hotel if feasible for you.
