Provisional Validity Period Guidelines

Welcome!

Please use this survey to share your feedback on the draft of the Provisional Validity Period Guidelines. Public comment will be open through Friday, December 8, 2017. ESE will use the feedback from the public comment period to make any necessary revisions to the Provisional Validity Period Guidelines. The final Guidelines will be released in early 2018 for full implementation beginning on July 1, 2019.

On June 27, 2017 the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education approved changes to the Regulations for Educator Licensure and Preparation Program Approval (603 CMR 7.00) and among the changes included the renaming of the Preliminary license to Provisional and changing the validity period from five years of employment under each Provisional license to a total of five years of employment under all Provisional licenses. These guidelines are intended to demonstrate the various scenarios that might exist as a result of the change in validity, especially for educators that hold multiple Provisional licenses prior to July 1, 2019 and have been employed under those licenses.
