Panic Disorder Self Assessment

Introduction

Please read this first.

This self-assessment is not a diagnostic tool. It is intended as an educational activity to teach you about symptoms that the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) believes to be typical.

The DSM defines a mental disorder as "a clinically significant behavioral or psychological syndrome or pattern that occurs in an individual and that is associated with present distress (e.g., a painful symptom) or disability (i.e., impairment in one or more important areas of functioning)..." The symptoms that this self-assessment asks you about are meant to serve only as guidelines. Diagnosis is based on many factors. Only a trained, experienced clinician can make a reliable diagnosis.

No personal information is collected when you take this self-assessment. However, confidentiality cannot be 100% guaranteed.
