UKP Study Stage 2 - Healthy Participants

UKP Study Stage 2 – Initial Screening Questionnaire for Healthy Participants

Hello, and thank you for your interest in this research project. The Endeavour College of Natural Health Office of Research is conducting a series of studies into the validity of urinary kryptopyrrole (UKP) testing (ethical clearance: Endeavour HREC #20171111). This research project is seeking to better understand the correlation between a urine test and an individual’s state of health. The laboratory test analyses a urine sample for the presence of biological molecules known as pyrroles. It is thought that these molecules are produced naturally in the human body, and may be increased in certain disease states. Naturally occurring pyrroles in the urine are assessed using a molecule known as kryptopyrrole.

Currently, a reference range for UKP levels in a healthy adult population is not currently known, consequently it is therefore not well characterised in non-healthy adults. This project is looking at the UKP level in both healthy participants and participants with anxiety. The levels of UKP and a participant’s health will be analysed for significance, along with any correlation between the two groups. The results of this analysis will guide the establishment of a normal reference range for UKP. This will assist clinicians who utilise the UKP test to make more specific treatment decisions.

For this stage of the study, we require healthy adult volunteers to provide a urine sample and answer simple questionnaires, three times over three weeks. Participants will be reimbursed $50 for travel and related expenses at the end of their three week participation in the study.

The following questions are a set of pre-screening questions, taking less than 5 minutes, that will help you to decide whether this study is appropriate for you or not. The time taken to participate each week is not expected to exceed 1-1.5 hours, excluding travel time to the study site (Fortitude Valley, Brisbane). You are free to change your mind about answering these questions at any time without consequences.

Thank you again for your time and interest in this project.
