Smart Safe Communities

Our youth are at risk- we have heard the recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, from the Inquest stemming from our Seven Fallen Feathers and the actions from Nishnawbe Aski Nation’s Chiefs’ Emergency Safety Conference. We know and understand that we MUST endeavour to protect the ones most at risk if we are to heal.

The ones most at risk are our Indigenous and newcomer youth. We are listening to this reality - and as a result of our listening and learning,
Windigo First Nations Council is proposing an answer via the Smart Cities Challenge which is a competition launched by Industry Canada and is open to all municipalities, governments, and Indigenous communities across the country. This Challenge will empower communities to address local issues their residents face through new partnerships, using a smart cities approach.

Help
Windigo First Nations Council to implement their Smart Safe Communities proposal aimed towards the safety, security, and future of Indigenous and newcomer youth across our communities, region, province, and country. It’s not only a Smart City Approach but the Smart Country Answer.

Please join the conversation by participating in this questionnaire and help us shape the future of our youth.
