Metro Tunnel - Upgrading the metropolitan rail network

Upgrading the metropolitan rail network

The Metro Tunnel Project will create a new end-to end rail line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with high capacity trains and five new underground stations at Arden (new North Melbourne), Parkville and Anzac, and two new CBD stations – State Library and Town Hall – which will directly connect to the City Loop stations.

To take full advantage of the extra capacity on the rail network created by the Metro Tunnel and its new High Capacity Metro Trains, a range of upgrades are proposed. These include works on the Sunbury, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines and in other ancillary areas, including the inner city section of the Sandringham line and from Epping to South Morang on the South Morang line. This will include installation of next-generation signalling technology and upgrades to infrastructure.

We’d like to know how and when you would like to hear from us, so we can keep you informed about the planning and delivery of network upgrades on your line.

This survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete and will close on 21 April 2018.
