Workshop: Creating Effective Writing Assignments for your Content

How can writing be used to learn content in the disciplines? How do you craft course assignments to have the most impact on student learning outcomes? What role does writing revision play in learning? Bring your writing assignments or course objectives to this workshop to apply some of the strategies for Writing Across the Curriculum. We will outline some general principles around scaffolding writing assignments, share and discuss examples, and workshop assignments that faculty bring with them. You will also learn about the writing center resources on our campuses and at a distance and how writing centers help students with their assignments.
