Hawaii Alien Plant Informatics (HAPI) Project -Alien Plant Data Survey

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey! Below are 13 questions that should take you less than 15 minutes to complete. The results of this survey will be used by a research project housed by the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU) at the University of Hawaii-Manoa with funding support by the Hawaii Invasive Species Council (HISC). This project seeks to compile and synthesize all available information on the presence, identity, distribution and invasive behavior of all alien plants in Hawaii. Ultimately, this information will be assembled in a user-friendly format that managers can use to help inform decisions about managing invasive species. Thus, the target audience of this survey may include a broad range of individuals or organizations that collect and/or store digitized data such as species lists, geospatial information (e.g. GPS locations) or observations of invasive behavior.

Additionally, we greatly appreciate anyone who is willing to share their data to benefit our project. Individuals or organizations will be fully credited for the data they provide to us, and plans to make the compiled data available to a select group of researchers and conservationists is currently underway.  Access by the general public is not anticipated in the next two-three years, but we are happy to discuss privacy issues and will notify contributors before changes to access permission take place.

Please forward this survey to anyone you know who may be interested in our project, and feel free to contact us if you have additional questions or feedback. We'd love to hear from you.

Thank you for your time,

Kelsey Brock (kcbrock@hawaii.edu) and Curt Daehler (daehler@hawaii.edu).
