Food Business Survey

Overview

BACKGROUND

It is an exciting time for food-related industries in Philadelphia and throughout the region. Whether one points to the growth in urban agriculture and access to fresh food, the incredible rise of our restaurant and food-service industries, or local innovations in food production and food waste solutions, it is clear that food is an important driver in the Philadelphia economy. Growth in food business activity in the city and region also presents a significant economic and workforce development opportunity, and strengthening our local food economy can help support better health outcomes for Philadelphia residents.

ABOUT THE SURVEY

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health Division of Chronic Disease Prevention (also known as Get Healthy Philly!) and the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia are conducting an assessment of the Philadelphia food economy, and we are looking to hear directly from food-related businesses through this survey. We'd like to learn more about your business, what challenges you face, and what support you could use from the City and other support organizations throughout the region.

HOW LONG WILL THE SURVEY TAKE?

The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete. The survey consists of the following sections:
  • Contact Information & Business Characteristics
  • Workforce Characteristics
  • Revenue & Operations
  • Access to Capital & Business Assistance
HOW THE INFORMATION WILL BE USED

We are extremely sensitive with the information that you provide. Your responses are confidential and we will not publish any identifying information about your business. If you agree to be contacted after the survey, we may follow up with some additional questions or ask your permission to feature your business in our report on trends in the Philadelphia food economy.
