Edinburgh Summit - Orchard Starter Kit Application

Do you know a great place for a new community orchard in Scotland?

The Orchard Project is running a simple and fun challenge to find where we could help plant three new community orchard in Scotland. Up for grabs are 3 orchard starter kits of 5 fruit trees, and all the stakes, metal guards, ties, mulch, etc needed. All you have to do is answer the 3 questions (click on the green button below, for the questions) and do a short pitch at the Orchard Summit – Edinburgh event on Fri 20 July. Three lucky communities will be voted for by the friendly panel of experts on the day.

Timeline
  • Wed 18 July: Deadline for proposals. Free book on orchards for all entries by this date.
  • Fri 20 July: Orchard Summit – Edinburgh with 4 minute pitches from each group. A friendly panel vote on which proposals they think most deserve the orchard starter kits. In the afternoon there will also be a programme of useful workshops about how to make the most of your community food growing space.
  • Nov 2018–March 2019: With the support of The Orchard Project’s your group plants an orchard.

What is Helping Britain Blossom?
Helping Britain Blossom is a partnership between Heineken UK and The Orchard Project, and is creating and restoring over 100 community orchards across Britain.
