Temporary Disability Parking Permit Application

Temporary Disability Parking Permit Guidelines for Use

University of Idaho (U of I) issues Temporary Disability permits to university faculty, staff, students or frequent visitors who provide photo identification and current registration for a state-issued Disability permit or Disability license plates.

The U of I Temporary Disability permit’s expiration date will be set to match that of the temporary state-issued placard.

Both a U of I Temporary Disability permit and a valid State-issued Disability permit or Disability license plate are required to be displayed in all campus ADA marked spaces except on weekdays after 5 p.m., weekends, academic breaks, and on university holidays. During these times, ONLY a valid State-issued Disability permit or Disability license plate is required to be displayed in ADA marked spaces.

In all hourly paid parking areas and posted timed spaces, at all times that payment is required or time limit is enforced, ONLY a State-issued Disability permit or Disability license plate is required to be displayed, and no time restriction applies.

However, it is a violation of these regulations for a current University employee or student to park in a campus meter or timed space with only a State-issued Disability permit or Disability license plate in order to avoid the purchase of a university parking permit. See also APM 40.32.A.2

Both a U of I Temporary Disability permit and a valid State-issued Disability permit or Disability license plate are required to park in regular spaces in color parking lots when permits are required.

This permit is free of charge for annual parking permit holders. For all others the cost is $1 per day - not to exceed the cost of an annual disability permit.

Use of a U of I Temporary Disability permit by an individual who is not the permit owner constitutes illegal use.

If the Temporary Disability permit holder requires the use of a Personal Care Assistant (PCA), the PCA must be named on the Temporary Disability permit application. Use of the Temporary Disability permit by the PCA is acceptable only when accompanying the disabled permit holder.

Permit is invalid if altered in any way; altering permit constitutes illegal use.

These guidelines constitute a partial list of campus parking regulations specific to Temporary Disability permits. Campus maps and the complete parking regulations are available at www.uidaho.edu/parking.
