South Side Housing Survey

Let your voice be heard on housing issues!

The Chicago Urban League and the Metropolitan Tenants Organization are partnering together to host a community forum on Wednesday, August 15 from 6PM-8PM at the Chicago Urban League to hear public comments regarding housing needs, issues and concerns in South Side neighborhoods and communities. Currently, the City of Chicago is developing their 5-Year Housing Plan (2019-2023), and we think it's very important that they hear from residents.

Whether you are able to attend the August 15th forum or not, we'd love to hear from you! This information will be summarized in a brief report that we will share with the 5-Year Plan committee. local Aldermen and others. To keep this confidential, we are not asking for your name - we'll just be providing a general summary of findings.

1. In which neighborhood/community area do you live?

2. What are some of the most important housing issues affecting your neighborhood/community area today? (Some examples include: foreclosed properties, vacant/abandoned properties, vacant lots, expensive rents, few housing options, not enough homes for sale, poor quality apartments and buildings, etc.)

3. Have these issues always been present? Or have things in your neighborhood/community area changed in the past 5 years that made these issues more pressing or important?

4. What, if any, efforts have you seen the City do to address these housing issues in your neighborhood/community area? How have their efforts worked or not worked?

5. What should the City do to make sure that there is enough quality, affordable housing available to residents on the South Side?
