Thank you for your interest in the LYNX study! Before we go on, we must determine whether you are eligible with a short survey. Here's some things you need to know:

  2. This survey includes some personal questions. You can choose to not answer any questions that make you feel uncomfortable.
  3. You will be asked to provide contact information so you can be contacted by study staff to participate in the study if you are eligible.
1. Do you consent to be screened? *This question is required.

Thank you for your interest in the LYNX study! The goal of LYNX is to create an app for gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men to increase HIV/STI testing and PrEP uptake. The purpose of our research study is to get opinions and feedback on our app from young men who have sex with men.

We are currently looking for gay, bisexual, or other men who have sex with men who can take part in a 6-month study. Participants will attend an enrollment visit, where some participants will be asked to download the LYNX app to their Android or iOS smart phone, and use it for 6 months. All participants will be asked to complete a brief online survey at enrollment and 3 and 6 months after the enrollment visit. Some participants may be asked to take part in a 1.5 hour online interview approximately 3 months after the enrollment visit.

Before we can move forward, we must determine whether you are eligible with a short screening process which will take approximately 5 minutes. The screening process is optional, and you may choose at any time not to participate. If you choose to proceed, we will first ask for your age and contact information, then a few questions that will determine whether or not you are eligible to participate in a larger research study.

The screening survey asks questions about sensitive topics like your HIV status, whether you take medication for HIV prevention, and sexual behaviors. You can decide to stop answering questions at any time. If you don't answer all the questions, we may not be able to determine if you are eligible for the study. If you provide your contact information in this screener, you are consenting for study staff to contact you about the study.

If you are not eligible for the study, you can choose to have your name and contact information kept by the study team if you would like to be contacted about future research studies. Your information will be kept on a secure computer server. If you choose to not be contacted for future studies, your information will be deleted. If you are eligible and choose to participate in the study, you will be asked similar questions at the enrollment visit to verify your eligibility.
