Traditional Native Games Teacher Workshop

Teacher Workshop
Traditional Native Games in Your Classroom!
Friday, January 25, 2019
4:30 PM – 7:00 PM

Join us for a hands-on teacher workshop celebrating Indigenous games from the Arctic to Argentina. Join different Native presenters to learn and play culturally-specific games, then make one Native game to bring back to your classroom! Teachers will receive Native Knowledge 360° materials such as a classroom lesson on the mahkisina meehkintiink (moccasin game) by the Myaamia (Miami) community in Oklahoma and brainstorm connections to classrooms. Whether you teach geography, history, social studies, or environmental studies, we invite you to register today. Become inspired by the richness and diversity of Native games in the 3rd level exhibit and learn about the cultural values and teaching styles of Native games to share with your students.

Recommended for first through eighth-grade teachers of geography, history, social studies, environmental science, or STEM. Classroom materials will be provided.

Free
