Key considerations:

In previous years, the conditions which ensured the most successful Research to Practice experiences included:

teacher team support by relevant executive team member e.g. curriculum co-coordinator, deputy head, director of teaching and learning by touching base with the team regularly and assisting with communication and operation when necessary

co-ordinated or provided release time for teacher team to meet with AISNSW education consultant. This worked differently across all participating schools during previous years with some schools arranging casual relief to provide release time for teacher teams. Other schools co-ordinated timetables to enable release for the teacher team. It is expected the teacher team allows a minimum of two hours for each AISNSW consultant visit. In previous years, these visits have ranged in duration from two hour small meetings to full day, whole staff events
teacher teams have an enthusiasm for, or interest in pursuing their own learning in Science and Technology teaching and learning and a propensity for collaboration. There will be some expectation of relevant reading and viewing by teachers involved, as well as actions to be taken during each term. The most successful teacher teams have been those that were involved in the application process and were aware of the requisite expectations and opportunities.

If accepted to participate in the Research to Practice Initiative: Primary Science and Technology we agree to:

Make a financial co-contribution of $4,000
Enable the teacher team to attend one day of Research to Practice Initiative: Primary Science and Technology professional learning in Sydney during February 2019 (date to be determined) and participate in one Evaluate and Reflect webinar in term four
Participate in up to three in-school activities per team facilitated by AISNSW primary education consultants with Science and Technology expertise
Participate in relevant readings and other learning opportunities throughout the year (for example, a webinar in relevant area of Science and Technology learning)
