Enrolled Nurses are, and always have been, in high demand. So if you are planning to take on a Nursing role, you have made a fulfilling career choice, in more ways than one.  

The Diploma of Nursing qualification requires a commitment to: regular attendance to your learning, simulated practice, comprehensive assessment, preparation for the Nursing work environment and clinical work placements. ANMEC aims to produce graduates that demonstrate a commitment to the promotion of the profession of Nursing.  

We ask questions to inquire about your interest and commitment in wanting to enter this career, as a process to check that applicants have made the right choice.

This course requires that participants comply with criminal history requirements for eligibility to engage both in the course and for eligibility to attend placements.

The successful completion of this course, requires students to commit to the training plan, assessment log and timetable which enable a student to progress and gain the qualification.   

The Diploma of Nursing course is delivered at ANMEC over 18 months fulltime. Leave is ONLY programmed at the end of the calendar year and covers the Christmas and New Year period. To be accepted into the course you will need to acknowledge and commit to the program time frames.

Applicant English Language Skills Entry Requirements

Applicants wishing to enrol into the Diploma of Nursing at ANMEC must be able to demonstrate English Language Competency prior to entry to the program of study. This is to comply with registration requirements with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.

There are 2 entry pathways to choose from for demonstration of the registration standards for Enrolled Nursing that are required for enrolment into our course.


If you are using the primary language pathway, English must  be your primary language. This means that English must be the language you primarily use for reading, writing, listening and speaking and the language you know best and are most comfortable with.

You will be asked to make this declaration when applying to AHPRA for registration, it is important you answer truthfully

You will be required to provide evidence and details in relation to the selections below and evidence of any primary, secondary, vocational and/or tertiary education, as well as sit a Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) entrant test at ANMEC offices.

You will be required to upload evidence of your chosen pathway as the final step in this section.

English language test pathway

You have achieved the required minimum scores in one of the following approved English language tests and meet the requirements for test results specified in the NMBA’s English language skills registration standard.

ELT scores (IELTS, OET, TOEFL iBT or PTE Academic)

The NMBA requires the IELTS (academic module) with a minimum overall score of 7 and a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking). *This question is required.
Occupation English Test (OET)

The NMBA requires the OET with a minimum score of B in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking) *This question is required.
Test if English as a Foreign Language internet-based test (TOEFL iBT)

The NMBA requires the TOEFL iBT with a minimum total score of 94 and the minimum scores of 24 for listening, 24 for reading, 27 for writing, and 23 for speaking *This question is required.
Pearson Test of English Academic

The NMBA requires the PTE Academic with a minimum overall score of 65 and a minimum score of 65 in each of the four communicative skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking). *This question is required.
