Next Steps

This index was developed to assess DEI maturity on five factors. The primary function of the factor scores you obtain from this survey is to help you identify areas in which progress can be made on your campus.
Once we obtain enough data, this will allow us to: a) refine the survey and further delineate the underlying factors of DEI; and b) develop reporting that will allow campuses to benchmark their DEI efforts with others. Encouraging others to participate will help us with these goals!

Keep in mind that this instrument is designed help you to engage in strategic conversations about progress in DEI efforts. A maturity index is a dynamic model that can change depending on overall progress toward the goal for the users of the index. It is not typically regarded as a capstone or ultimate test. Rather, it suggests areas of possible opportunities where attention and action can be focused to make progress on the broad construct.

You may return to the index as often as you’d like to update your answers as you get more information or assess your progress as you implement changes. Remember that YOUR RESPONSES ARE CONFIDENTIAL. Neither your name nor your institution’s name will be reported with your scores. Your data is important to us. We will use it to continue to refine the index to make it useful for assessing the evolution of DEI efforts in higher education over time.
