RESEARCHER: Dr. Catherine Honig, Associate Professor, National Louis University

PURPOSE & BACKGROUND: I am conducting a research study to learn more about how our perceptions of our boss’ attributes and behaviors relate to our feelings about our work, our work organizations, and the quality of our lives both inside and outside of the workplace.

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE: You must be at least 18 years old to participate, and you must have part-time or full-time work experience.

DATA COLLECTION—10-minute survey: To accomplish the purpose of this study, you are asked to complete a survey that will require approximately 10 minutes to complete.

BENEFITS & RISKS: There are no risks associated with participating in this research study. Participation is not associated with financial compensation; however, you may find that your participation provides a beneficial opportunity to reflect on your experience with workplace managers. In addition, your participation will represent an important contribution to continued learning in the fields of I/O psychology and management.

CONFIDENTIALITY: The survey is anonymous. Moreover, all individual data will be kept confidential; only the faculty researcher will have access to the survey responses. The data will be kept secure in a locked password protected electronic file folder and will be destroyed within five (5) years of the study. The findings may be shared with a variety of audiences, including university faculty, at professional conferences, and for publication. The findings also may be shared for teaching and course improvement purposes at the researcher’s university. Because the survey is anonymous, your identity will remain confidential in any written or presented summary of the research.

YOUR PARTICIPATION IS VOLUNTARY:  Your participation in this research study is entirely voluntary. You have the right to withdraw at any time without penalty.

APPROVALS: This study has been approved by the National Louis University Institutional Review Board.
