Teen Talk Training Application - Summer 2019

Training Overview

Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles (JBBBSLA) and Teen Line developed a mobile phone app called Teen Talk. Teen Talk is an anonymous iPhone app where teens can get support from trained teens, share inspiration, and learn what other teens are dealing with. High school students can join the Teen Talk Training program to learn how to provide social and emotional support to their peers. The training will be provided by Teen Line.

The Teen Talk Training is a 50 hour training where participants will learn the essential tools to successfully support their peers. Summer Training will take place the week of July 29th and August 5th. The training session will be held Monday-Thursday between 10:00am-4:00pm. Teens will have Friday off. This training program will be held at Sinai Temple in Los Angeles. Once trained, teens will sign up for 2.5 hour weekly evening shifts where they can provide support at home on their own devices. Participants will receive community service hours for both the training and weekly shifts.

The training program will cost $100. A daily kosher lunch is included in the price. Please note, that scholarship is available and payment will be due upon acceptance into the training group.

We are currently accepting applications from high school students who would like to be trained to provide peer support to other teens on the app.
All applications must be submitted by 1:00pm on Monday, June 17th.

Please complete the application below. Responses will be confidential. Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to reviewing your application.
