How to Develop Interfaith Training Courses for Higher Education Professionals – Starts February
For Higher Education professionals who want to train their colleagues in engaging religious and worldview diversity, this peer action cohort provides an opportunity to learn from a diverse set of peers who have done it before. Between February and May, each month a different campus professional will share the curriculum they developed for equipping faculty and student affairs professionals to foster religious pluralism on campus. The presenters come from an array of offices within public, nonsectarian and religiously affiliated colleges and universities. The training courses to be shared and discussed range from a one-time training to bi-weekly sessions throughout the year, modeling a variety of approaches that can be customized based on available time and resources.
By the end of spring semester, participants in this learning community will:
- Develop or modify an interfaith cooperation training curriculum for staff and/or faculty
- Identify the barriers to facilitating such a training on your campus and gain insights from practitioner presenters
- Integrate a “roll-out plan” into your curriculum, detailing your strategies to overcome barriers and potentials for growing/scaling

March 19: Vidal Dickerson, Special Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs for Diversity and Inclusion at Christopher Newport University, a medium sized public university in Newport News, VA.
April 16: Julie Parentau, Director of Global Villages living learning community at North Carolina State University, a large public university in Raleigh, NC.
May 21: James Puglisi, Associate Director of Campus Ministry at Saint Edward’s University, a small Catholic campus in Austin, TX.
Strengthening Religious Pluralism at Public Campuses – Starts February
Join your peers at public universities across the US to learn and share best practices for engaging religious and worldview diversity on campus. We’ll guide conversations around the challenges and tensions related to starting and sustaining interfaith efforts on public campuses and help you develop a plan specific to your own institution.
At the outset of the group, each participant will be asked to set an aspiration or articulate a challenge you plan to address in the coming semester. Through group calls and a digital repository for programmatic resources, this group will best serve educators who are looking to make an impact around interfaith cooperation on your public campus this year.
Participants will join a one-hour phone call each month.
