INTERNET BASED INFORMED CONSENT SCRIPT

 

Title of Research Study:     Transgender Internet Support Groups

Principal Investigator:       Karen Abraham, B.A.

You are being asked to participate in this research study because you are a transgender or gender non-conforming individual who uses online support forums. The purpose of this research study is to look at the relationship between online support and mental health. If you agree to participate, we will ask you to answer a number of online questions about yourself and your experiences. This study should take approximately 45 minutes to complete. Some questions may relate to unpleasant experiences you may have had. Data will be stored securely online on a privately maintained website, and once downloaded, the data will be stored on password protected computers in Dr. Claudia Brumbaugh's lab at Queens College. Names are not collected, however you will be given the option to provide researchers with your username for the purposes of confirming your reported amount of use of your transgender support forum. Your participation in this research is voluntary. You may refuse to answer any questions that you do not want to answer and still remain in the study.
