2019 National Teach Ag Ambassador Application

2019 Teach Ag Ambassador Program Overview and Expectations

Position Description:
The National Teach Ag Campaign is seeking the nation’s most outstanding agricultural education majors to represent the profession as National Teach Ag Ambassadors at the 2019 National FFA Convention & Expo, October 27 to November 1 in Indianapolis, IN, and throughout the year at the state level.

Ambassadors will be responsible for the logistical operations of the Teach Ag booth during FFA Convention; including booth set up and teardown, staffing the interactive activities, general booth maintenance and other Teach Ag related activities that occur during the week of National FFA Convention. After National FFA Convention, ambassadors will be responsible for hosting Teach Ag workshops throughout their states to promote the mission and goals of the National Teach Ag Campaign. In addition, ambassadors will also be required to communicate via social media and html emails about the National Teach Ag Campaign and their term as ambassadors to individuals interested in pursuing a career in teaching agriculture.

Selection for ambassadorship is a competitive process, and being selected means we believe you are one of the nation’s best and brightest future agriculture teachers. Final selections may also include a phone interview.

Ambassadors are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from the National FFA Convention. The National Teach Ag Campaign will reimburse your travel expenses for mileage to and from convention or for your round-trip, main cabin flight. The National Teach Ag Campaign will provide accommodations and reimbursement for meals during your time in Indianapolis. Meal reimbursement is capped at $45/day.

Ambassadors are required to be in Indianapolis on Sunday, October 27 (time to be decided at a later date) for orientation and training. Ambassadors must also be available the rest of the week for booth set up, booth coverage and must stay through booth teardown and loading on Friday, November 1. There may be additional engagement opportunities during the week as well. Selected ambassadors must attend a mandatory orientation webinar in early summer (an exact time and date will be arranged with the selected ambassadors), along with three training webinars prior to National FFA Convention. Anyone who does not attend these webinars or who cannot stay for the duration of the FFA convention cannot participate in the ambassador program.

Additional ambassador opportunities may be available if increased funding for the program is secured.
