RSVP 2018 Illinois Teacher of the Year Lindsey Jensen: "Once A New Teacher, Always A New Teacher"

Description: Join us for a reception and guest lecture by Lindsey Jensen, 2018 Illinois Teacher of the Year, on February 27 at the Chicago campus. Jensen will share her insights, strategies, and ideas for classroom success in her talk ‘Once A New Teacher, Always A New Teacher’.

Attendance is free and open to all – light refreshments will be served starting at 4:30pm, the talk will begin at 5pm.

Lindsey Jensen teaches advanced placement English, Shakespeare, American literature, drama and composition at Dwight Township High School in District 230. Known for infusing research-based instructional practices with high expectations and infectious positivity, Illinois State Education Superintendent Tony Smith said Jensen "exemplifies teacher leadership." Jensen’s many school and community contributions include helping with curriculum redesign, organizing philanthropic events, supervising student teachers, coaching her colleagues, advising students’ extracurricular clubs and activities, and serving her professional association. Jensen received a Bachelor of Science in speech communication from Southern Illinois University and a Master of Arts in teaching in secondary education from Oakland City University. She is earning her doctorate in teaching and learning from Illinois State University.
