This submittal must be accompanied by sufficient information for a plan review to determine compliance with the International Fire Code. This will allow corrections to be made during the planning phase prior to the start of the activity or project. After hours inspection fees may apply.

***If a Fire Safety Burn Ban is in effect, per FPB Policy 080323 the following requirements apply for fireworks displays in addition to all requirements of NFPA 1123 & NFPA 1124:
  • A water truck will wet down any areas within 150% of the fallout area on the evening of the display and will refill and remain on site for 1 hour after the firework display is over.
  • Two dedicated fire watch personnel who are employed by the pyrotechnic company will circulate throughout the area during the event, and for 1 hour after the event concludes. Each fire watch employee will have reliable communications and a minimum of 1, 3-A:40B:C fire extinguisher or a rechargeable fire extinguisher Class: A UL Rating: 2-A on their person.

24. Permit Renewel or New? *This question is required.
Applications are only accepted between March 15th - May 10th of each year for which the permit is sought. Incomplete permit applications will not be accepted. The number of permits available is limited (refer to PC Code 17C.60.090). Pierce County Zoning restrictions may apply. Fire Prevention Bureau inspection of stand is required.
Applications are required to be submitted 4 weeks prior to the event. Incomplete permit applications will not be accepted.
SUBMITTAL DOCUMENTS
24. Detailed Site Plan:


The site plan must be drawn to scale and include the location of the following:
  • Date prepared and/or revised
  • Setbacks showing distance from property lines (a minimum of 25 ft)
  • Show 20 ft flagging setbacks around the tent/stand for parking
  • Showing distance from all private and public roadways
  • Buildings
  • Parking areas
  • Lot lines
  • Temporary fireworks storage
  • Generators
  • Motor vehicle dispensing stations
24. Ortho:
  • Provide an aerial photo of the stand location
24. Insurance Certificate:
 
  • "Pierce County and all its employees" to be listed as an additional insured
  • The "Certificate Holder" section should list the address "Pierce County 2401 S 35th St. Tacoma, WA 98409"
  • The limits on the insurance document should be $1,000,000 and $3,000,000
  • An Additional Insured Endorsement is required to be submitted along with the Insurance Certificate

  • The address and/or parcel number on the lease agreement must match the address and/or parcel number for the stand location applied for
24. Tent Certificate of Flammability:
 
  • The dimensions of the tent on the certificate of flammability must match the dimensions of the tent listed on your application

  • Tent floor plan is required to show at least 2 exits that are a minimum width of 6 ft, and aisle ways a minimum width of 3 ft

The site plan must show the following:
  1. Distance from roadways, buildings, parking areas, and property lines;
  2. The fallout radius for largest mortar size used in the display;
  3. Location of spectator areas;
  4. Location of temporary fireworks storage if on-site

  • Private fireworks display permits are issued only for cultural and/or religious events, or similar purposes with the approval of the Fire Marshal
