Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is a non-native, wood-boring beetle that attacks ash tree species. It is an invasive pest that has killed millions of ash trees in the USA.
EAB was first detected in Boulder in September, 2013. In summer, 2016 it was detected in Longmont.
The sad news is that Boulder may lose more than 70,000 of its trees due to Emerald Ash Borer. If you have an infested ash tree, it is important to have an arborist inspect it as soon as possible because it can become a danger. The cost of removal will go up substantially the longer the tree is infested.
