Film permit application

Applying for a Screen Auckland filming permit:

This Film Permit Application form is used to collect relevant and required information about you and the production company undertaking filming activity.

Information is held by Screen Auckland (Auckland Unlimited) and used to provide you with screen facilitation and permitting services. It also lets us keep you up to date with operational and location specific information relating to screen production.

IMPORTANT – Please read before progressing with this application

Before lodging this application form your production must register with ScreenSafe.

Applications need to be lodged with complete details by 8.00am five full business days prior to the shoot date, contingency date or first date of bump in / parking reservation – whichever occurs first.

For applications involving complex logistics, locations, central city locations or traffic management a longer lead time may apply. Please contact Screen Auckland for guidance.
  • Parking resolutions require 30 business days lead time
  • Road closure applications require 15 business days lead time 
  • Stop/Go traffic management in central city locations require 6 business days lead time
  • Filming on Tūpuna Maunga (ancestral mountains) require 20-25 business days lead time

Changes requested within application timeframes may not always be achievable. It is important that feasibility discussions are carried out prior to lodging your application to avoid disappointment.

Mandatory information you need to complete this form
  • Production company details (name, address, email)
  • Filming activity dates (incl contingencies, bump in/out)
  • Location details (location name, address, access requirements)
  • Shoot requirements (equipment, personnel, vehicles, and parking)
  • Detailed site map
  • Site-specific risk assessment with general crew safety notes - can be accepted up to 2 business days prior to activity
  • H&S Plan (COVID-19 level 2-4 or as otherwise required) - can be accepted up to 2 business days prior to activity
  • Public Liability Insurance – Certificate of Currency
  • Letterbox drop draft and/or consultation survey
The following documentation should be provided if applicable to your activity:
  • Traffic Management Plan
  • SPFX methodology / MSDS
  • Drone operator certification & aviation insurance
