2019 Community Foundation Philanthropy Award

The Community Foundation Philanthropy Award was established by the Council of Michigan Foundations (CMF) and the Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) in 2006 to honor a living individual or couple for service as both volunteer/trustee and donor to help grow community philanthropy in Michigan on behalf of one or more community foundations.  

Nomination Process and Guidelines
 
Nominations will be accepted for a living individual or couple who have demonstrated commitment, leadership, impact, creativity and collaboration through service and philanthropy in one or more community foundations. Public officials, staff of foundations and CMF trustees are not eligible for nomination. 

To nominate an individual or couple please submit:
  • This online form, including contact information for two individuals who can serve as references for the nominee. References will be contacted for final candidates only.
  • A brief narrative that describes the nominee's commitment, leadership, impact, creativity/advocacy and collaboration. The narrative can be uploaded as a file below or emailed to Sue Cuddington, executive assistant to the president, CMF, at scuddington@michiganfoundations.org. If you email the document, please include the nominator and nominee's names.

Selection and Recognition

Nominations are due May 13, 2019. A volunteer peer panel will review all nominations and select the award winner. This year’s recipient will be honored at CMF's Annual Conference on Monday, October 7 in Traverse City.

Commitment: Include the nominee’s length of service to the community foundation.

Leadership: Describe the nominee’s volunteer leadership as a trustee or committee member.

Impact: Describe three to five ways in which the nominee has made a difference in the community or region through their time and giving to a community foundation.

Creativity/Advocacy: Describe the nominee’s support of innovative ideas in their community’s nonprofit and public sectors through their involvement with a community foundation.

Collaboration: Provide examples of how the nominee has supported collaborative work of the community foundation.
