MTSS Leadership Institute Feedback

Thank you for your interest in participating in an MTSS Leadership Institute. We know that many districts are working hard to meet the needs of all learners. Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is a framework designed to proactively address the strengths and needs of all students by ensuring that schools optimize data-driven decision making, progress monitoring, and evidence-based supports and strategies with increasing intensity to sustain student growth. MTSS is not just about tiered interventions, but rather how all the systems in a school or district fit together to ensure a high quality educational experience for each and every student.

While many leaders are committed to this vision, we have heard that administrators are looking for additional guidance, professional development, tools, and resources to help them design, implement, and lead cohesive tiered systems of support. To support this effort, DESE is looking to sponsor a FREE MTSS Leadership Institute, organized in partnership with the School & Main Institute and Novak Educational Consulting. This Leadership Institute will be complementary to the work being supported through the Department’s six MTSS Academies, which focus specifically on Inclusive Tier 1 Instruction, Tiered Literacy, Tiered Math, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, Systemic Student Support (S3), and Social and Emotional Learning/Mental Health (links to applications and more information about the Academies are available online). However, enrollment in one of the Academies is not a prerequisite for participation in the MTSS Leadership Institute.

We encourage superintendents and district administrators who lead the design, implementation, and oversight of multi-tiered systems of support to attend. School administrators are also welcome to participate - particularly if they are joining a district-level leader or team.
