Position(s): Underwriting Assistant Internship

Hrs/Week: Full-time; 40 hours per week
Compensation: $17.50/hr
Provide assistance to Underwriters, customer service to brokers, as well as perform research on projects as needed within PPIB’s Cannabis Team.

- Cannabis Industry Overview
- Understand why information collected on applications is important and how it pertains to the insurance being offered.
- Understand transfer of risk and areas that carrier doesn’t wish to cover the risk
- Rate, quote, bind process
- Research and create a table of various state Cannabis laws as they pertain to licensing and insurance
- Research and provide summary of important upcoming legislation on Cannabis in various states/Congress
- Spend time reviewing inspections of Cannabis facilities
- Understand policy construction and parts
- Customer Service Tips and Guidelines
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Dress Code is Business Casual with some Casual days.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
