Introductory GOLD Training: June 19 & 20, 2019 in Park Rapids, MN

Thank you for your interest in the two day MDE-sponsored GOLD assessment training on Wednesday and Thursday June 19 & 20, 2019 at Park Rapids Public Schools' Frank White Education Center.  Please complete all information below. Spots are reserved on a first come first serve basis. There are 30 seats available for this training.

The GOLD is an authentic observation-based assessment system for children from birth through third grade. The system may be implemented with any developmentally appropriate curriculum. Importantly, the GOLD is a Kindergarten Entry Profile (KEP) approved assessment. KEP-approved assessments align to and cover the 2017 Early Childhood Indicators of Progress (ECIPs) and kindergarten academic standards. The GOLD can be used across multiple programs, settings, ages and grades (e.g., kindergarten, voluntary pre-kindergarten, school readiness, school readiness plus, preschool, early childhood special education, Head Start and child care programs - including 3 and 4 star Parent Aware rated programs). The information this assessment produces helps teachers, administrators and families understand what students know and are able to do in order to support children’s learning and development while also guiding continuous program improvement efforts.

Please make sure you enter the email address of the attending individual, as updates/information will only be sent to emails entered into the survey (if you are an administrator registering your staff, please enter their email address - not yours).

This training is free (no cost to you). Full attendance will result in 12 CEUs (you must attend both days to receive CEUs).

Trainer: Sue Heisler-
Hello, I am Sue Heisler the Early Childhood Curriculum Educator for White Earth Child Care/Early Childhood Programs with a background in head start.  My education is accounting, early childhood, and psychology. I have the awesome opportunity to support early childhood teachers/providers through CICC as an Inclusion, Infant/Toddler/and Health & Safety coach.  Coaching and Facilitating trainings' is what I love to do as I learn from all of you as much as I share. As a trainer, I train for MNTRECC, Brazelton Touchpoints, TACSEI, Child Care Associations, Various Tribal Programs, and individuals on early childhood/school-age topics. I believe education is a life- long journey and that “as a community member we want to give every child the opportunity to reach the best of his or her developmental potential within a healthy functional family.” Assessment tools are essential in our documentation, planning, and support and MyTeaching Strategies is one that helps us do just that; my hope is you enjoy the training and become confident using this assessment.
Lunch: Lunch is on your own - please note that there is limited time for lunch (you are encouraged to bring your own lunch)

If you have any questions about the training, please contact Sue Heisler at sueheisler55@hotmail.com. If you are unable to attend after you have registered (as there are limited seats), please email Jon Vaupel (contact information below).

In Solidarity,
