Dr. Hasson was a true visionary, dedicated physician, and prolific inventor of surgical and educational devices and techniques: His legacy endures with the cannula and open laparoscopy techniques that bear his name. The 19th president of AAGL, Dr. Hasson was a passionate proponent of lifelong learning for surgical gynecologists. Established in 2013 by Dr. Hasson's family, this scholarship provides for a deserving physician from an AAGL Affiliated Society in a developing economy to attend the annual AAGL Global Congress on Minimally Invasive Gynecology. Additionally, Sharon Sharrett, wife of Dr. Hasson, presents a commemorative plaque at a general session at the Global Congress.
The Foundation of the AAGL is accepting applications for one $3,500 scholarship to a deserving recipient for travel and lodging expenses to the AAGL 2019 Global Congress, November 9-13 in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. The Foundation will pay for Global Congress registration fees, fees for postgraduate didactic courses, a ticket to the Presidential Gala and a statuette acknowledging this award, to be presented at the Global Congress.
