Please join the Pikes Peak Business & Education Alliance's (PPBEA) community of schools, early adopter businesses and other community leaders as we host Project Lead the Way (PLTW) on Wednesday, June 19th, from 12-2pm. PLTW is a nationally recognized leader in high school science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) curriculum. They have also developed effective "plug and play" models for leveraging employer-driven, work-based learning activities into pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships to help train the next generation workforce to meet the occupational demands of our industry partners.
This two hour session is designed to:
- Inform attendees about PLTW's workforce development programs and practices as they relate to pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships;
- Discover how PPBEA can act as an intermediary sponsor to simplify and facilitate development of pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships with business partners;
- Help business partners learn how easy it is to connect with the PPBEA/PLTW pre-apprenticeship model to create their own talent pipeline;
- Share out PLTW's successful high school pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship models being operated with business partners throughout the country;
- Take an opportunity for business and education leaders in the Pikes Peak region to start formulating a vision of how we can work together to create our own talent development pipeline into demanded, entry-level occupations in our community;
- Vision an integrated talent development system that effectively bridges secondary and post-secondary education with engaged business partners;
- Formulate next steps/easy wins in building occupation-centric, work-based learning and pre-apprenticeship opportunities to connect qualified students with hiring employers.
