Suburban Rail Loop community survey

Introduction

Suburban Rail Loop is a new underground rail link connecting Melbourne's middle suburbs. It will include new stations and connect major railway lines from the Frankston line to the Werribee line via Melbourne Airport.

It will transform Victoria’s public transport system and deliver significant urban renewal outcomes for Melbourne. It will provide access to jobs and provide opportunities for new industries to develop.

Melbourne is Australia’s fastest growing city, with population projected to reach almost 8 million people by 2051. Our radial train network faces significant pressure into the future as population growth continues in the outer fringes of Melbourne.

The Suburban Rail Loop will provide a new way for Victorians to travel across our city and access major employment, health, education and activity precincts outside the central business district. Regional Victorians will also be connected to the Suburban Rail Loop via three new super hubs at Clayton, Broadmeadows and Sunshine.

The Victorian Government has committed up to $300 million to planning and design work for the Suburban Rail Loop and initial work on stage one of the project may commence in 2022, subject to relevant approvals.

Scope of feedback
We want to understand what your thoughts about the project are, the benefits you think the project will have for Victorians and what project information you’d like to hear about.

This survey should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete.

Your feedback will enable us to give you the information that’s most relevant to you about the project and will help us ensure that the Suburban Rail Loop’s planning and design meets the needs of the community.

This survey is the first of many opportunities you will have to provide feedback through the life of the project.
