Almost all NYU America Reads placements are in elementary schools. Please describe any experience you have had tutoring or mentoring young children.

NYU’s Office of Civic Engagement also coordinates NYU Jumpstart, in which NYU tutors work as a team with preschool age children on the Lower East Side of NYC. NYU Jumpstart requires a full year commitment to work on the same team, with the same children, and in the same timeslot for the Fall and Spring semesters (usually two afternoons a week.) Jumpstart also requires a Federal Work Study allotment. If you would like to know more about Jumpstart and apply to that program, please go to:

You may apply to both programs, but will be able to work for only one.
